Dresden Plate

I finished a project this past week that has been on my bucket list for a while. I've wanted to learn how to make dresden plates for a few years now, but they looked hard so I chickened out. I participate in a bi weekly crafting challenge called Iron Craft. When the theme "D is for..." came up for our Iron Craft challenge I knew it was finally time to face my fears and do it!

I went through and found a pin I had saved on Pinterest that had a tutorial that looked fairly straight-forward and simple. That was the one to try. To kill multiple birds with one stone I also decided that I'd make this project work with the Monthly Pinstrosity Challenge of "Use it Up" where all the supplies for the project had to be things I already owned.  My stash is quickly becoming flooded with fabrics I've found at Aunt Judy's Attic. Sometimes I just can't resist buying some of the fabrics I see, even though I don't have a project in mind right away. They just wrap their fibrous fingers around my heart and beg to go home with me. How can I say now to that?! I found that I still have some of the beautiful dragonfly fabric from a few years ago, and then found 3 other fabrics (all from the store!) that went along perfectly.

The whole process was so much less of a headache than I imagined it would be. Dresden plates are surprisingly not hard at all, at least with this pattern! My fears had been unfounded. It was fun to put this together and I love how it turned out! Now I want to make a quilt all of Dresden plates!

Terrific Tuesday Preview!

It's not often that we show you some of our Terrific Tuesday secrets before Tuesday...but we're just so excited about these that we can't help ourselves. Tomorrow we get to show off these fun fabric books (and sell the panels to make them)!

So soft, colorful, and fun! With the whole book being fabric there's no worry now about ripped pages, bent spines, or spilled milk warping the pages (not that that's happened to any of my son's books...). I can't wait to get my hands on these!

"For the Pets" Sewing Event!

Lawana Beem needs help making up her famous pet beds for the Animal Shelter, so she has asked for helpers (sewers and stuffers) to come to a "For the Pets" Sewing Event at Aunt Judy's Attic on Thursday, April 9th starting at 10:30am

Lawana will be providing the fabric for the beds and the stuffing for them. All she needs everyone to bring is their sewing machines, Basic Sewing Kit, and thread.  Everyone knows how much fun we have when we all get together to sew and visit so come and give back to our community!

Apron Panel

We have a whole basket full of the panels to make these fun and classy kitchen aprons! I love how cute these are! A fun and feminine apron makes me feel so cute and accomplished in the kitchen...even if I do still burn batches of cookies from time to time.

Not a fan of this print? We have other ready made aprons on sale, as well as a whole store of fabrics and patterns to pick out the apron that's just right for you!

Embroidery Supplies

One thing we love about the creative world is the constant flux of new ideas, fun hobbies, and great new techniques to learn. A rising interest in our area is machine embroidery. In fact, we have two machine embroidery classes/groups that meet here in our store! It is always so fun to see the projects they work on and the beautiful stitchery they produce.

With the rising interest, the need for embroidery products has jumped, and we're so excited to show you what we now offer!

We have blanks, batting, canvases, thread, patterns, stabilizers, scissors, one stocking left over from Christmas, and more!

And, as always, if you find yourself in need of an embroidery project we don't carry, we would be more than happy to look it up in our catalog and put in and order for you.
